The results are in: With 82% of votes in favor, MoveOn’s millions of members have overwhelmingly voted to endorse Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election! This is only the fourth time that MoveOn members have voted to endorse a presidential candidate, but as we head into what could be the most consequential election in our lifetimes, it could not be more important.
Since the day Donald Trump was elected, MoveOn members have made it clear that our top priority must be defeating Donald Trump at the ballot box this November, and our endorsement of Joe Biden today is a crucial step forward toward that goal. Your support for this endorsement allows us to refine our elections program—already the biggest in our 22-year history—to engage and mobilize voters to vote for Joe Biden and finally end the four hate-filled years of chaos and destruction under Trump.

Vice President Biden can’t win this alone. His campaign will be driven by grassroots people power, and MoveOn members will be on the front lines.
We know how important it is to turn out voters in battleground states, which is why MoveOn has identified 10 states that are most critical to Vice President Biden’s victory in November, and we are working overtime to make sure voters in those states show up in droves to elect him this fall.
Here’s what we’ll do to help make that happen:
Utilize an innovative new strategy called “Vote Tripling,” which has been proven to be five times more effective than traditional voter engagement strategies. The pandemic means that tactics like canvassing and in-person volunteering won’t be possible. Luckily, Vote Tripling relies only on your personal relationships with family and friends. We are working to identify hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members in battleground states to sign Vote Tripling pledges, promising to help turnout three friends or family members to the polls this fall. Studies have shown that Vote Tripling increased turn out with young voters by up to 10%!
Flex our analytics and digital strength to identify and engage millions of “high-potential voters.” We have identified 7 million voters spread across the 10 most critical swing states who are progressive but come from communities typically ignored by campaigns: voters of color, first-time voters, low-income voters, and new citizens. Working with our analytics team, we are building models to target and engage these voters to turn them out in November. If even a fraction of them cast ballots, Joe Biden will defeat Donald Trump.
Fight back against GOP voter suppression and online disinformation. Just like in 2016, Trump and the GOP are spreading and feeding on disinformation, spreading lies with the goal of suppressing voter turnout. That’s why we’ve hired a crack team of digital sleuths who are working to dismantle disinformation networks and hold the social media platforms that host this disinformation accountable.
Two days after Donald Trump was elected in 2016, MoveOn’s executive director sent an email that said, “It’s almost impossible to describe in words the scale of the threat we face.”
The past four years have proved over and over again that statement to be correct.
