How Russia cheated for Trump

Mueller Report Hearings -Deep Trouble For Mitch McCONnell

Mitch McConnell is in Deep, Trouble

Mitch McConnell is in deep, deep trouble this time. McConnell’s most lasting harm is because of his hijacking of the Supreme Court. His current crime is aiding the cover up of Russian interference in our elections.

Dear MoveOn member,
We all know how important it is to beat Donald Trump in 2020.

But there’s another race in 2020 that is almost as important—and now looks even more winnable: defeating Mitch McConnell.

Polls show that McConnell is the #1 most unpopular member of the entire U.S. Senate, with more than 60% of the voters in McConnell’s home state of Kentucky saying that “it’s time for someone new” to represent the state.1

Here’s the challenge: Kentucky won’t be one of the key battleground states in the Presidential election. So if we’re going to make a serious effort to beat McConnell, we’ll need to staff up a whole additional campaign infrastructure in Kentucky just for his race—without sacrificing resources we need to defeat Trump.

We would love to take out McConnell, but we need to know right now if MoveOn members will be willing to donate the kind of ongoing, consistent money it’ll take to staff up a campaign and win. So we’ve set a goal of bringing in 8,333 new monthly donors by June 30—the second-quarter fundraising deadline—to show that there is enough support from MoveOn members to take on this work. Will you chip in $5 a month?

McConnell openly brags that he’s the “grim reaper” for popular House-passed bills protecting voting rights and cracking down on corruption in Washington.

Net Neutrality is supported by more than 80% of voters, but McConnell won’t even allow it to come up for a vote.2

How about protections for the Dreamers, which are supported by more than 75% of voters? That passed the House of Representatives, but McConnell won’t allow a vote in the Senate on that, either.3

But McConnell’s most lasting harm is because of his hijacking of the Supreme Court. He is almost single-handedly responsible for stealing Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court seat. Then, he changed the rules of the Senate to be able to ram through Neil Gorsuch. And when Christine Blasey Ford spoke out about being sexually assaulted by Brett Kavanaugh, McConnell made sure she’d be ignored and Kavanaugh confirmed.

Now, McConnell’s Supreme Court is tearing through one decades-old precedent after another, and it appears to be only a matter of time before Roe v. Wade is gone.

Let’s be clear: No race is going to be a bigger priority in 2020 than beating Trump. But even if that happens, as long as McConnell remains in charge of the Senate, we will make no progress on progressive priorities.

If we can add 8,333 new monthly donors by the June 30 fundraising deadline, it will show that MoveOn members are ready to put up the funding we’ll need to both beat Trump and take on McConnell. So, what do you say? Will you chip in $5 a month to ditch Mitch?

Thanks for all you do.

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 a month.

No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the Mueller Report

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the Mueller Report and basically confirmed, on live TV, that if Donald Trump weren’t president, he’d be indicted for obstruction of justice immediately.

Chairman Jerry Nadler brought three former federal prosecutors to give testimony on Robert Mueller’s findings, but the star witness was John Dean. The former White House Counsel to Richard Nixon, Dean helped bring down Nixon’s presidency by directly implicating him in the Watergate scandal. He said “history is repeating itself,” comparing the Mueller report to the Watergate Road Map.

The Mueller report, for those who have actually read it (and many in Congress have not!), spells everything out. It’s a clear blueprint for Congress — and the Judiciary Committee in particular — to act on impeachment, and every one of the witnesses testified that Congress has the responsibility to hold Trump accountable.

There’s another hearing on the Mueller report coming up focusing specifically on counterintelligence and Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Special Update: “Lessons from the Mueller Report” Hearing

Yesterday, the House held another hearing on the Mueller report — and once again, the American people got confirmation that Donald Trump and his team have been lying to us about their ties to Russian dignitaries.

In Wednesday’s “Lessons from the Mueller Report” hearing, the House Intelligence Committee brought in two FBI veterans and a former U.S. attorney to answer questions on the counterintelligence implications of the report.

We know that Russia wanted Trump on their side — and that they would have done anything to get him there. The witnesses testified that the Trump campaign failed in its duty to notify the FBI about the litany of contacts from Russia. And we know that the Trump team has repeatedly misled the FBI and the American people about a project Trump was planning in Moscow, compromising information that the witnesses said Russia could exploit. Chairman Adam Schiff called it “a quintessential example of a counterintelligence nightmare.”

It’s clear that Trump is putting his own interests and relationships above the security of our nation. Watch our new video on what we learned yesterday and what it means for all of us:
Thanks,
